Lizzies Story
Having suffered from debilitating break-up anxiety for over a year, it
got to a point in my life where counselling had helped me unveil the
emotional triggers to my condition - the next step was to address them.
I came to see Tim and was incredibly nervous of what Hypnotherapy might
induce. I found it hard to believe that he could help me especially as
the first session seemed to involve a lot of positive speak and
disregard for 'the past'. How was he supposed to help eradicate such
panic from my life if he didn't know my history?
Tim picked up on my cynicism and persevered nonetheless, demonstrating a genuine desire to heal as well as an unbending belief in the resources that exist in each and every one of us.
At first we practised a few exercises in relaxation and it was through these that he seemed to learn the pattern of my symptoms without me having to discuss them at length. It was this intuition of his that inspired hope and made me realise that he was really going to help. My symptoms have ranged over a plethora of uncomfortable and terrifying sensations, all of which provoke negative thinking. After just a few sessions with Tim I actually started to believe that as individuals we can, even if we need help to do it, adapt the way we talk to ourselves and replace negative associations and memory with useful images from which we can learn.
Together through Hypnotherapy we accessed the root of my problems and all the while I felt Tim's unwavering support and a real sense of safety. It's an empowering experience to stare your demons in the face and this is exactly the point of Tim's practice. The important and worthwhile part of the processes is when, having met them, you understand their use to you and then feel that you can move on. This is all done with effective and powerful encouragement by Tim. His use of imagery is key and it's an amazing moment when you start to feel your own feelings differently. The pinnacle of Tim's work is that it is actually the patient who puts these methods into practise which means the positive outlook becomes permanent. It is not a situation in which you become reliant on your therapist. He successfully assists you in learning the tools you need to manage your own feelings and therefore your own life- and this is invaluable. Tim's commitment transcends the office as he makes himself available to you by phone and email thus demonstrating a professionalism that is coupled with absolute generosity.
